Prototypes and Pilot Systems

“Plan to throw one away; you will, anyhow.”

Really innovative solutions always start with assumptions – things you haven’t figured out yet, but which could prove vital to creating a successful product. Your assumptions could be about user behaviour, about the capabilities of your platform, or about integrating new technology – but whatever you’re working on, it’s vital to validate those assumptions as early, and as thoroughly, as you can.

I can help. I’ve built interactive wireframes and greybox prototypes to explore user interactions and behaviour. I’ve created technical prototypes and “proof of concept” systems to validate technology choices and highlight risks around development and deployment. I can work with you and your teams to identify your risks and assumptions, propose solutions, and create working prototype systems to validate those solutions. As the Agile Manifesto puts it, there’s value in creating detailed designs, but there’s often more value in “rough consensus and running code”, so get in touch and find out how I can help.
